Edmonds Branch is helping to support this Women's Conference planned for Edmonds Community College March 10-11. If you would like to communicate with Lori about the conference, contact her at: locross@verizon.net. --------------------------------------------- 1st Annual Community College Women’s Conference Connecting, Empowering and Leading into the Future Edmonds Community College ~ March 10-11, 2006 CALL FOR PROPOSALS The Community College Women’s Conference (CCWC) will explore feminism, gender and justice and what it means to be privileged. Participants will develop leadership skills to actively work for social justice. All community college students are welcome to attend. CCWC’s philosophy is to examine gender identity through the lens of self-identity, women’s issues, feminist principles and anti-sexism/social justice. This educational experience will be comprised of keynote speakers, break out sessions, social activities and dialogues to foster our mission and philosophy. Presentations and workshops should offer educational opportunities that are student focused and provide participants with substantive, expository printed information for later reference. Break out sessions are one hour long and will take place on Saturday, March 11th. Some potential topics may include ideas around grassroots organizing, mobilizing to advocate for change and how women are viewed in the political realm. To propose a session, send the following information to the email or fax listed at the bottom of this page.
