Direct comments, questions or unsubscribe requests to: feedback@aauw-wa.org American Association of University Women Member at Large (MAL) letter - March, 2008 Member Information: In February both branch members and MALs should have received our convention issue of the Evergreen Leader. Due to cost cutting measures we kept the newsletter to a very few pages and as a result this printed newsletter had little information about AAUW happenings around the state. A Member Letter is sent to all branch members with e mail addresses each month. These electronic letters contain information about the changes at the national level as well as tidbits about AAUW of Washington. We have done some electronic mailings for Members-at Large in the past, inviting them to join at the state level and/or attend state functions, but communications about the branches in individual areas has been lacking. We have decided to combine the two list serves and send the monthly Member Letters to this combined list. This will bring you information about projects or programs you may want to work on as a Member-at Large. Although, our Membership Vice President for MALs received and distributed MAL lists, it was up to each branch to make the contacts in their area for special programs and/or projects. In some areas this may have been done fairly effectively, however, it was found not effective for blanket communications to MALs. We are reevaluating the position of VP Membership for MALs. We invite you to submit any ideas you may have in this area to feedback@aauw-wa.org. State AAUW News: AAUW State Convention will be held on April 25-27, 2008. Convention information can be found at: www.aauw-wa.org or in the Evergreen Leader. A registration form for Sunday only is at the bottom of this message. The breakfast speaker is a young woman who just settled her lawsuit against the University of Colorado. Information on her case can be found at: http://www.aauw.org/advocacy/laf/cases/simpson.cfm The AAUW of Washington is one of sixteen states asked to apply for a Public Policy Impact Grant. The states, chosen because of past successful public policy programs, are asked to write proposals for what they think is most needed in their state. Projects can be voter education, voter registration drives or other creative endeavors. If you have an idea for a Washington project or for more information contact, Dixie Swenson at: publicpolicy@aauw-wa.org .
