The registration form will be sent as an attachment to branch presidents as an attachment so it can be used in the January branch newsletters. They are also available on the web site in the member center/member corner under forms. We want to have good attendance at Lobby Day as Sue Schuaffler and Dixie Swenson will be inviting many other women's groups to join us to hear about the work of Washington Learns and the subsequent legislation introduced to begin implementation of the recommendations. Our program will include experts from Early Learning, K-12, and Higher Education. Then, over lunch, we'll hear from our lobbyist about the specific bills that are pending and their status. The presentation by Ann Daley, Executive Director of Washington Learns, which we had at the Leadership Conference in Ellensburg, is still on our website under Events and Records for you to review. The committee report and other information is available on the Washington Learns web site. The LWV will have their Lobby Day on January 19th. Some of you may want to attend both of these important days. Their registration form is on line at www.lwvwa.org . New State Communicators Listserv Working in consultation with AAUW's Communications Task Force, AAUW Communications is pleased to announce a new listserv--AAUW State Communicators. This announcement-only listserv will share AAUW communications-related information (e.g., press releases, media advisories, AAUW press coverage, Equity Issues in the News articles, Strategic Process-related communication resources, etc.) with those who have a communications role at the state level. Requests to be added to the AAUW State Communicators listserv should be sent to st-comm@aauw.org. National Girls Collaborative Project Carolyn Hayek has been chosen to serve as our Regional Liaison for the National Girls Collaborative Project and the AAUW national office to work on STEM related projects. The entity Carolyn will be working with in this region is the Puget Sound Center in Bothell. Carolyn will be going to Washington, D.C. in January for a few days training. Her appointment letter read: "You were chosen from among many excellent candidates, and we are confident that your skills and experiences will help to make the National Girls Collaborative Project a great success. " We are confident in Carolyn and are looking for good things as we forge ahead on our state projects in the area of STEM and the advancement of women in STEM careers. Congratulations Carolyn! EVERGREEN LEADER The winter edition of the Evergreen Leader should be arriving in your mailboxes. Branch membership or treasurers should check with the newest members to see if they received a copy. If they have not received one by the end of this week, please notify me at president@aauw-wa.org and give me their mailing address. I have a few extra copies I can send via first class mail. If you send me their address, please get the correct information into the national office using the new system. The next newsletter will be out in February. The deadline for articles is January 31st. Kathi Pickett's, Evergreen Leader Editor, deadlines are firm. Her turn around time is short. In fact, all convention related material should be directed to the appropriate convention chairperson by January 15th so the convention committee can make sure all items are correct and covered prior to submitting to Evergreen Leader for publishing. 21st Century Award Applications The way we will honor branches for good work through out the year will again be the 21st Century Awards. They are now on line. The donation section is for the 2006 year so make sure your contributions for EF and LAF count by getting them to the national office on time. We have added donations to Leadership Training Institute and STEM of Washington State to this so you might want to take a look at the application now. If fact. Begin to complete the application now so you won't have the last minute rush in March. It is not hard to complete. Every branch should at least try for this award. We want all of our branches to be recognized at the Spokane and Phoenix Conventions. You can find the application online www.aauw-wa Member Corner/ Forms. Have a Happy Holiday Season, Connie Connie Dunkelberger, State President Your comments about the monthly Leader Letters or state level activities of any kind are welcome.
