Hi Everybody

I thought this might be of general interest.

Regards, Rod

Bruce Perens posted this on the PLUG list - thought that it might be
interesting to some of you guys & gals in KPLUG. Don't know if he'll
find this list or not - I e-mailed him and let him know.

Bruce Perens for those who don't know is one of the founders of Debian
and its strongest proponent. He wrote the Open Source Initiative, and
is pretty high up in the Linux chain. I've met him in person a couple
of times - interesting, articulate, and a great guy.

Sourcelabs was a topic of a little conversation at the KPLUG BBQ for a
few minutes. Not sure if any of you guys want to drive all the way to
Portland, but it's sure to be a fun time. Sourcelabs is hiring - may be
a good opportunity for someone.

Hi Folks,

I posted this to PLUG-jobs, and someone wrote to suggest that it belonged on
the general list. I hope that's OK.

Wednesday night, I'm running a recruitment party for Sourcelabs at
Kells, and
it strikes me that the folks who need jobs aren't necessarily paying big
bucks to attend the O'Reilly conference this week. Thus, I hope you
don't mind my passing this on. If you bring your resume, I'll buy you
drinks and some food.

Sourcelabs is in Seattle, and is supporting various Open Source "stacks"
for enterprise users who expect some things in a product that the Open
Source projects don't generally provide. The company stays true to the
Open Source ethos. They do not attempt to impose a lock-in model on Open
Source as some vendors have. The same version of software that they
support is available from their web site with no strings attached over
the original Open Source licenses. Thus, we have to maintain excellent
service because customers can go elsewhere. We announced our Java stack
today, and have had a *AMP stack out for a while.

Date: Wednesday, August 3
Time: 8:30-10:30pm
Place: Kells Irish Restaurant & Pub, Ulster Room, 2nd Floor
112 SW 2nd Ave., Portland, Oregon 97201

    Thanks

    Bruce Perens
