Washington's Oldest Independent Record Store Newsletter Vol.3 No.4 2/4/06 Greetings from Quimper Sound! Lots of interesting new releases this week, including (finally!) the new KT Tunstall. Check out the "Web-only" specials this week on the website. Also, we've bought a lot of used CDs this week so if you haven't combed the used racks lately now is a good time to come down and check it out. And, as I've mentioned before, we've got a lot of good stuff in the new sale rack between the Jazz and Blues sections. Finally, we've got a ton of special orders waiting down at the store - we've had to start filling up a second shelf to accommodate them all - so if you've got something waiting for you come on down - if you are not football-crazed, there should be plenty of parking downtown on Sunday afternoon and we'll be wide open. As always, feedback is much appreciated - keep it coming to: feedback@quimpersound.com - thanks! And now, on with the show . . . -Contents- 1. New Releases Coming 2/7 2. Washington's Oldest Independent Record Store Newsletter Vol.3 No.5 2/10/06 Greetings from Quimper Sound! Boy is it a lousy week for new releases - the most interesting one is a *tribute* album fer cryin' out loud (though it looks like a good one). The record industry presumes we're all too tied up in knots about Valentines Day to worry about new music - which reminds me... We've got a nice selection of tunes for the 14th - from smoooove to groove. From 'Stan Getz Plays For Lovers' to 'The Ultimate Barry White Collection' - and much more. Several 'select' titles are up at the front counter and there are plenty in the racks, too. Need a suggestion? Just ask and we'll find you just the right thing for whatever mood your trying to set. Washington's Oldest Independent Record Store Newsletter Vol.3 No.6 2/17/06 Greetings from Quimper Sound! Lots of great new releases as well as things to tell you about this week. First of all, lately we've had a lot of folks come into the store looking for a copy of The Stranger. Unfortunately they've reduced the quantity they send us by half. Presumably this is because of rising oil prices and the corresponding increase in shipping costs. I've complained to the Stranger circulation dept. - but I don't think anything will change anytime soon. So, if you want your weekly Stranger fix, know that they arrive Thursday around noon and now are usually gone by Saturday morning. Secondly, we've bought a lot of good used CDs this week, so I recommend combing those racks soon before the really good stuff gets cherry picked. On a related note, we have a rack of CDs we call "scuffers" - these are good CDs that have some marks on them. They are guaranteed to play as new (and you can always test drive them at our listening station) but because of their cosmetic condition are priced between $1-4 bucks. Right now, for instance, there are great $4 CDs by the Talking Heads, Dave Matthews, K.D. Lang, Prince, Sade, Tracy Chapman... you get the idea. A couple of new "Web-only" specials up on the website as well. Finally, many of you have noticed our new "Friends Don't Let Friends..." signs up in the store. The reason for me getting up on my soapbox on the CD burning issue is explained on our blog, here. Hated to do it, but I couldn't keep silent any longer - feel free to leave your comments there for everyone to read if you have an opinion on the issue. As always, feedback is much appreciated - keep it coming to: feedback@quimpersound.com - thanks! And now, on with the show . . . -Contents- 1. New Releases Coming 2/21 2. Washington's Oldest Independent Record Store Newsletter Vol.3 No.7 2/24/06 Greetings from Quimper Sound! First of all, let me apologize for missing the new Ray Davies CD 'Other People's Lives' as a new release last week. This title has been much anticipated and has had its release date pushed back at least four times before - so if you're one of his many exasperated fans your wait is over. The big new release next week is the Johnny Cash biopic 'Walk The Line'! Enormously popular at the Rose (and all over the country) last year and inspiring a huge resurgence of interest in The Man In Black, this DVD-only release will come in a standard and deluxe 2-disc edition which includes a featurette on Johnny Cash and several music videos. Finally, we got a few *really nice* Blue Note Japanese reissues on vinyl. These are 180 gram virgin vinyl versions of classic jazz albums with all the original artwork and packaging in tact. These titles list for between $55.95 and $89.85 - but - I got a great deal on them and am selling them at $24.95. Get them while they last.
