Welcome to Spring (in all its gloriously quirky weather). The big news this week is that we're having this year's first major 'in-store' appearance. Nationally renowned country blues performer (and Centrum Blues Festival regular) Steve Cheseborough will grace our stage at 5pm on Friday April 13th. He'll be selling his CDs and his highly acclaimed book Blues Traveling: the Holy Sites of Delta Blues and of course, giving us a taste of his masterful country blues playing. Oh, and he'll probably sign an autograph or two as well. Stop by and check him out and get the taste for free. If you like what you hear go for the full meal at the Upstage later that night! Message-ID: <62eb3b8e0704272052l2da03fa9l87f8ea0ab81c00bb@mail.gmail.com> Hello Everyone, It has happened. As many of you may know from the infamous Port Townsend rumor mill - we have been in negotiations to sell the store for awhile now. Today we can proudly announce that Quimper Sound will be sold to Mark Hering and Marie Campanoli! Mark and Marie are ecstatic about taking over. Mark is true local - as a kid he shopped here when the store opened in 1974 - and Marie is a long time resident and an executive at Skookum (www.skookum.org). Mark just left his management job - also at Skookum - to follow his dream of owning a record store. Both are musicians and, in a bizarre twist of fate, they DJ'd our wedding seven years ago! Their enthusiasm for the business is infectious - and while they are full of ideas of their own, they're really looking forward to hearing from you about what *you* want. Running this store has been a dream come true for me. These past eight years in Port Townsend have been some of the best of my life. Beth and I were married here and both Sam and Athena were born here. We are going to miss this place and, especially, its wonderfully eclectic and kind population. We sincerely wanted to find a committed, local owner for the store - one that would continue its legacy of independence and commitment to serving our town. In the partnership of Mark and Marie we've found just that - and we couldn't be more proud to pass the torch to them. Beth and I will continue running the store through this weekend and then close on Monday to do inventory. When the store re-opens later next week it will be under the enthusiastic new leadership of Mark & Marie. I will be in and out of the store all weekend - if I don't see you to thank you personally, please except my and my family's thanks and gratitude for all you've done to keep Quimper Sound spinning into its 33rd year - and beyond! -Steve -- Quimper Sound Washington's Oldest Independent Record Store Open Late! 9-7 Sun-Thu & 9-8 Fri./Sat. http://www.quimpersound.com -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
